The world needs to accept a nuclear North Korea

Even with Joe Biden leading the US it is unlikely that the new administration will be able to dissuade North Korea from its nuclear path. What is even more worrying is the fact that Kim recently stated that the US is North Korea’s main enemy. That will only prove disastrous for the new administration since their every move against North Korea will prove those words to be true.

Kim will continue on building up his country’s nuclear capabilities, first thing on his list is building a nuclear-powered submarine to further deter the US forces. The new administration may not like it, but there is very little, Biden or anyone else can do, short of a war nobody wants to see.

The focus of everyone else should be to create better conditions for the people of North Korea, they should not be punished for the decisions of their government, over and over it has been shown that sanctions only hurt the people while those in power continue to do as they wish.

We cannot change the reality of North Korean military achievements, but we can change the reality of everyday life in the hermit kingdom. Israel is a nuclear power, although the country would never admit it so what is the problem in nuclear North Korea? So far they are still members of the club that owns nuclear weapons but have never used one, more than we can say about the US.

We can only hope the South and the North create better relations and thus open the doors to future unification. If it worked for the Germans, perhaps it will work for the Koreans as well.
